Homemade Fat- Free Hummus

Store- bought hummus contains usually tahini, which is high in fat and should therefore not be eaten on a daily basis, especially not if one has a preexisting cardiovascular condition. Instead, I recommend using this wonderful easy and delicious recipe.

  1. 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed well
  2. 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  3. 2 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  4. 4 tbsp veggie stock or water
  5. 1 tsp tamari
  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and process until smooth.
  2. Adjust to taste.
  1. I rarely use canned legumes. I usually cook a large batch of soaked bean, chickpeas or lentils and store them in glass jars in my fridge.
