Homemade Fat- Free Hummus
Store- bought hummus contains usually tahini, which is high in fat and should therefore not be eaten on a daily basis, especially not if one has a preexisting cardiovascular condition. Instead, I recommend using this wonderful easy and delicious recipe.
- 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed well
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
- 4 tbsp veggie stock or water
- 1 tsp tamari
- Combine all ingredients in a food processor and process until smooth.
- Adjust to taste.
- I rarely use canned legumes. I usually cook a large batch of soaked bean, chickpeas or lentils and store them in glass jars in my fridge.
