This simple smoothie is a great “beginners” smoothie- it has a beautiful color and tastes delicious. To add more green goodness, I usually throw in a handful of spinach leaves, which give it more of a brownish- greenish color. You can easily turn the smoothie into ice cream by simply reducing the amount of milk. Most of the time, I also add a superfood to our smoothies. In this recipe I used hemp seeds. Hemp is considered one of the world’s most nutritious plants. Hemp Seeds are often called a superfood because they contain all of the essential amino acids. They have the most concentrated balance of proteins, essential fats, vitamins and enzymes combined with a relative absence of sugar, starches and saturated fats. We use them in salads, smoothies or sprinkle them on our cereal.
- 1 cup plant-based milk (I switch between almond, coconut and oat milk)
- 1 cup mixed frozen berries
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1 tbsp hemp seeds
- Blend all ingredients until smooth and serve chilled.
